Dual-Enrollment classes help students succeed

Article from the 2/21/2013 Denver Post about Dual-Enrollment in our High Schools. Our Cisco certification program at Hinkley HS, which is mentioned in this article, is a dual-enrolled program with Community College of Aurora.

KidsTek students visit Cisco and ViaWest

Jeff Alexander at Cisco's local Englewood office didn’t get good grades in high school. “With a 2.0 and not too many college recruiters banging on my door, I joined the Marines,” Jeff explained to a room of high school students. After graduation, he went to basic training, took a placement exam, then started computer science school during his service with the Corps. Jeff studied for his first Cisco certification by flashlight on the back of a humvee. He returned just as the dot-com bubble burst, so he lived with family members while he pursued more certifications.

KidsTek adds Fulton Elementary!

KidsTek added Aurora's Fulton Elementary to its growing roster of elementary schools this spring semester. Instructors Robin Mest and Candace Hicks designed a computer-oriented math program for the after school program that meets twice a week. The class will use the school's Smart Board as well as Microsoft Office Suite to teach elementary math skills.
