Colorado Technology Association Wine Tasting July 31, 2012

Come enjoy Colorado-grown wine, while mingling among technology leaders and professionals at the 8th Annual Wine Tasting at the Governor's Mansion.  The 2012 Annual Wine Tasting is one of the year's most anticipated events. With great food, wonderful Colorado wine and an evening dedicated to pure networking, this year will be no exception.

Congratulations to Ian Stevenson!

Ian finished his sophomore year at Hinkley High school with a Cisco CCENT certification that he earned through his KidsTek Cisco class.  This (Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician) certification helps Ian on the path to a high-earning tech career.  Ian worked extremely hard this school year to earn the certificate and hopes to continue challenging himself by enrolling in a Calculus class next school year that is offered by the Community College of Aurora.

A Year's Worth of Winners!

KidsTek was proud to award over 50 computers to deserving students this year!  High school students who passed the rigorous Cisco Networking class at Aurora's Hinkley High School, Aurora Central High School and Denver's North High School all earned brand new laptops.  Three times this year, KidsTek awarded refurbished laptops to middle school students from each of the four Aurora COMPASS sites. Additionally, KidsTek presented refurbished desktops to Aurora Central high school students who completed the after school College and Career Class this spring.

KidsTek Summer Classes!

Students are getting more time on computers this summer with KidsTek classes. Students at Denver's Rachel B. Noel Middle School are writing stories in Microsoft Word and turning them into animated movies using a program Scratch.  KidsTek is also holding classes in Aurora at Fletcher, Vaughn and Sable elementary schools, North Middle School, and Aurora West College Preparatory Academy.

KidsTek Student from North High on TV

Aracely Navarro from North High School proved she is a natural TV star on Wednesday's Colorado and Company on KUSA Channel 9. Joined by KidsTek Executive Director Rich Liner and Program Director Andrew Bissland, Aracely discussed how KidsTek's networking class improved her critical thinking skills and exposed her to new career options. KidsTek then awarded Aracely a new laptop which she earned by completing the year-long Cisco CCENT course. Congrats to Aracely!
