More Laptops Awarded to Students

KidsTek awarded four laptops this month to outstanding students from North, South, East and West middle schools in Aurora. The City of Aurora's COMPASS program provides after school activities, including KidsTek, during three sessions each school year. At the end of each session, KidsTek gives away a free refurbished laptop to a selected student at each site. This year, KidsTek is awarding 12 laptops to Aurora middle schoolers. Congrats to our winners!

Mayor Hancock Visits KidsTek Program at High Tech Early College

KidsTek celebrated a major landmark in the non-profit’s 11-year history last week as Denver Mayor Michael Hancock and Denver Public Schools Superintendents Tom Boasberg and Antwan Wilson praised the organization’s leadership in providing technology education to the city’s schools at an event at High Tech Early College (HTEC) in northeast Denver.

Mayor Hancock to celebrate KidsTek/Westwood College/DPS partnership

Our programs at North HS and High Tech Early College in the Denver Public Schools will be the topic at the celebration and panel discussion on Weds. January 25 at High Tech Early College. Mayor Hancock, Denver Schools Superintendent Tom Boasberg, Assistant Superintendent Antwan Wilson, and executives from KidsTek and our partner, Westwood College, will also be on hand. KidsTek at High Tech

High Tech Early College (HTEC) students have a busy semester ahead of them in Julie Siwanowicz’s Cisco IT Essentials class. KidsTek partnered with this innovation school to offer the industry certification class to its inaugural freshmen class.  

KidsTek Middle School Students Learn From Scratch

Students at Noel Middle School work on Scratch under the guidance of KidsTek instructor Michelle Lovato. Scratch is a programming language created at MIT that makes it easy to create and share interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art.
