Program Objectives and Evaluation
Expected results during the current program year include:
- 90% of students who complete the KidsTek program will be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite of programs including Word, PowerPoint and Excel through projects that replicate real-world applications.
- 90% of students will have proper knowledge of how to safely and appropriately use the Internet, with a focus on the research aspects of this tool.
- 90% of students will understand the basics of creating digital graphic arts, web page design and digital multimedia.
- 90% of students will gain a beginner-level understanding of digital art and music, robotics and desktop publishing through project-based learning.
- 100% of students in the high school Tech to Tomorrow will increase college and career exploration opportunities and have a solid understanding of technology careers and career paths.
- 15% of students in KidsTek programs will continue their involvement in KidsTek beyond one program year.
- Among students in the program longer than one year:
(a) 70% will experience increased self-esteem and confidence through their accomplishments;
(b) 70% will demonstrate advanced-level competence in MS Office;
(c) 70% will have sufficient skills to get a job and/or attend college;
(d) 70% will participate in the classroom to help beginning-level students with technology projects.
Note: A subjective benefit of KidsTek is improved self-esteem and hope for the future. This will be evaluated through comments from students and discussions with instructors. While this is not a truly measurable outcome, KidsTek values this aspect of the program and believe it is one of the key factors for future success.
